The NHS app

The NHS have asked surgeries to only promote the NHS app as a way to view your medical records online. This is because it is much safer and secure than other service providers. The Surgery is no longer promoting other apps such as Patient Access, or myGP.

If you haven't already, please complete an online access to medical records form, and hand it into Reception. This will enable you to have your records online. You can then register for the NHS app here: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-app/nhs-app-help-and-support/getting-started-with-the-nhs-app/

You can view your test results via online access, or you can request the results here.

When you attend for a test of any kind, you will be told how long you should expect to wait for the results. Please bear this in mind and call the surgery after 11am once sufficient time has elapsed.

Our reception staff are not qualified to comment on results therefore it is your responsibility to check them and make any necessary follow-up appointment with the doctor.

Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or their representative.

Please ring the surgery for your results 1 week after your test

A blood test usually involves the phlebotomist taking a blood sample from a blood vessel in your arm and the usual place for a sample is the inside of the elbow or wrist, where the veins are relatively close to the surface.

Blood samples from children (under 16) are taken at the hospital which you will need to pre-book. They are most commonly taken from the back of the hand. The child's hand will be anaesthetised (numbed) with a special cream before the sample is taken.

X-Ray and Ultrasound Examinations

The time taken to get a report varies according to the complexity of the examination. Results return to the requesting doctor, so, for example, if requested by a hospital doctor, it will be returned to the hospital doctor, not the surgery.

We may be able to access investigation results requested by Epsom/St Helier clinics, but we have no direct access to other hospitals.
